Hi- We are looking to accelerate our assets for a particular location since we are moving a couple of years earlier than our lease end date. I thought it would be as easy as changing the life of the assets, but when I change the life, the following happens:
Example:
Life is 10 years
Orig Cost: $100,000
2010 - $10,000
2011 - $10,000
2012 - $10,000
2013 - $10,000
2014 - $10,000
Say in Nov 2015 I change the life to 5 years
YTD Oct 2015 Depreciation is $8,4K
Nov 2015 - Wants to charge $10K (big unexpected hit in Nov to make up for depreciation for 2015)
Dec 2015 - $1.6K
2015 - $20,000 (It wants to charge the entire $20K in 2015, but I would like it to take the NBV and spread it evenly until say Feb 2017)
2016 - $20,000
2017 - $10,000
How can I just take the NBV and spread it over through Feb 2017? I am fine with the way it's calculating 2016 and 2017, but don't think we should be taking a full years depreciation with the change in 2015.
I would like instead to look something like this:
YTD Oct 2015 Depreciation: $8.4K
NBV as of Oct is $42K
Nov - $2.6K
Dec - $2.6K
2016 - $31.5K
2017 - $5.2K (Jan anf Feb)
I am just looking to spread the NBV evenly through Feb 2015.
Thanks for your time.
