let me explain a basic scenario
first you install your system
you will need to create the repositories and usernames / passwords
use the Console for this
now you need to import data from an R/3 or any other system
import manager is used
to view and manage all your data, you can use data manager
image manager is just like a small add-on used specifically to handle any images you may have
now you may want to print out some data in a particular format to make a catalog
you can use publisher for this
to create an index for it, use indexer
finally, after managing / enriching your data in data manager, you will need to update this data back in your original system
syndicator is used for this
