CY vs PY dimension member formula

Hi Folks
I'm looking for a way to create a new version in the dimension that will calculate the difference between the current year actual and the prior year actual. This would be at the month, quarter or year time level so the day shift from year to year is irrelevant. Can someone give me a dimension member formula syntax I can use?

Hi Bill, it is not recommended as you can greatly reduce the performance of DB. Remember member formulas=MDX, so the data is not storage in DB and will be calculated any time you create a report with this member. Use Advanced report or create a measure ("which it is not necessary") Let me know, daniel

Thank you for the feedback and I guess that is why the consultants setting up the system didn't build it back then.

Hi Bill,

soory never tried but look please in system_library.lgl->MdxLib.lgl->PrevBalance function and similar functions maybe you found what you search or looking in these exemplas you can build what you need, and use this in your dimension member formula.
