Sales order number on Network header assignment tab CJ20n

Hi Experts,

Quick question. The sales order # and item # on the network header assignment tab is a feature only for the assembly processing process ?

We have some projects which are not via assembly processing but creating project and sales order manually and linking it in SO line item.

Am wondering if there is any other standard way to show the sales order number inside the CJ20N screen on network header?

Thanks,
Krishna

Yes, Assembly Processing will attempt to use the Sales Order and Item Number as the Project Number when it automatically creates the Project.

You are free to use the same standard when you manually create a project.  But there is no standard link from a WBS to a Sales Order Item.  The link is from the Sales Order Item to the WBS.

If you settle to COPA the Sales Order and Item can be a characteristic in the settlement rule.  That is handy for a program but definitely not handy for a user.

Hi Ken,

Thanks.

Yes we do have sales order and item as characteristics in the settlement rule.

So now in my case, where am not using assembly processing, what is the usage of manually typing in the sales order number in the assignment tab of the Network header in CJ20N?

Also in case I assign an incorrect sales order number and line item in the network assignment tab which is not actually the sales order to which the WBS is account assigned in VA02, Then what is the impact?

In such case, would be it better to hide the sales order number and item field from the network header assignment tab in CJ20n?

Regards,

Krishna
