Hi Basis Expert,

We have done upgrade from R/3 4.7 Unicode to ECC 6.0 EHP 7.0.

After the upgrade we found that the SAP Password is not working for some users and for others the same 4.7 password is working.

Do we know why these passwords are not working for few reason. What is the reason??

Appreciate your inputs.

Regards,

Anil

Hi Anil,

I upgrade my SAP system from ECC 5.0 to  ECC 6.0 EHP 7.and I also meet the same problem.

can you show me how you solved the problem?

Hi Huang,

Please use first 8 character password of your previous release. In your case it is ECC 5.0 , 8 character password.

For eg - In ECC 5.0 if your password is winter@123 , In ECC 6.0 EHP 7 try using winter@1.

Check this and let us know.

Dear Anil,

Thanks Anil.

It works for me,But if it is  possible to use exactly password ie not the 8 character password?

on the other hand, how to solve the  technical user (in RFC destinations) and other no dialog type user's password?

Hi Huang,

Here you will have to check with your security team as I don't know what kind of security policy and standards you have in your system.

Request you to check with the security team.

Anil

Hello,

You can check the following note:

862989 - New password rules as of SAP NetWeaver 2004s (NW ABAP 7.0)

What is the value of parameter login/password_downwards_compatibility in your system?

Hi Anil.

Have you check the user id status(User id locked)? Could you check the SM21 log any error & ST22 Dumps?
