Different Netweaver versions between two system not connected

Hi experts, we are creating and exporting an ABAP transport file (.DES extension in DATA and COFILE directories) in a SAP system with Netweaver version 7.02.

Is there any problem applying those files with STMS transaction (Import option) in a SAP system with Netweaver 7.04 version?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello Alex,

This is possible you can copy the data file and co-file and do the transport its not having major changes the standard customizing. Even you can go -head  like new z* T-code ,report cab be moved if  SAP BASIS level is same. BC is main component will allow the new requirement. you have to check what is the major changes and which is going to affected. Note: The transport must be created with virtual transport groups.

Thanks & Regards,

Alex,

You have two answers to your question:

Technical Side:

No problem. You can import a request for a lower version into a new release, but keep award about the Version Component Restriction in STMS.

Functional Side:

Yes, you can have a problem. You need to be award about the kind of object of your request.

If they are only Customer Objects (Z*/Y*) you are not going to have maior problems. You only need to ask an ABAP to validate the imported objects in case of some syntax or activation error. Remember you can have differences in the original objects your abap may can be referenced.

If you have standard objects you can have a serious trouble. It dependes of the object you overwrite.

David

Alex,

Welcome to posting on SCN!

Unfortunately, this is a very basic question, frequently asked, frequently answered (SAP Search). That search brings up 339 hits, and the top four are exactly this question. I'd like to direct your attention to the space, the (point 3, search before you post), and .

Bottom line, just as Willi said: it depends. It's technically possible. It's usually a bad idea. Assuming by NetWeaver 7.04 you mean NetWeaver 7.4, STMS will stop the import unless you set a bypass option. It requires thorough and careful examination of the objects in the transport before deciding that it's ok.

Cheers,

Matt

Hi Alex,

there can be problems. It depends on the content you transport.

If you transport Customer content and no sap objects there should be no problem.

Best regards
