Proceeding to an upgrade with the latest SUM 1.0 SP16 (PL2)
i had to stop SUM for an OS maintenance period.
i'm running on AS/400 - IBM i - i5/OS
i was at phase MAIN_SHDRUN/ACT_UPG (36%)
then on a dialog screen i used the Exit button to leave SUM.
This causes job SUMSTART to end in QUSRWRK *SBS
Then i wanted to restart SUM.
Call QP2term
cd /usr/sap/QAU/SUM
./STARTUP confighostagent QAU
then http://sapqau:1128/lmsl/sumabap/QAU/doc/sluigui
i keep getting the screen with "The tool is not running"
Anyone has experienced it, has a clue or it my be a problem with SUM 1.0 SP16 (PL2) ?
Best regards,
Roger Arsenault
Roger is right.
SAP have solved the issue in SUM SP16 PL8.
Moreover, If minimum Host agent version is 721 SP3 and you have registered SUM tool with it then the SUM tool start link from browser should work.
Also make sure that SUM directory is located under \usr\sap\<SID>\ only.
You should move ahead with 'Next" after first screen with "The tool is not running"
Thanks

Works fine with SUM SP16 PL8. SAP might have solved the issue.

I was able to complete my upgrade after restarting completely (& deleting the SUM directory).
i have a SAP incident opened (HIGH) on this issue that we are recreating on an other instance.
When i have a solution i'll post it.

Job SUMSTART is started in QUSRWRK function PGM-SAPup-real.

hi Roger, did your resolve this issue ? I am also facing similar issue and not sure how to proceed.
I am on iSeries (AS400) and upgrading NW 7.4 (ABAP only) SPS9 to SPS14.
SUM is SP16(PL2)
I had to exit the SUM browser at end of day and i had daily backup running which prevented a directory being read, which caused the SUM process to be error-ed out. Now the backup has completed and all the directories are accessible. When i try to get into SUM browser it logs me in with sidadm without any issues, but the screen say
The tool is not running
When i click next, it says error occurred
Error Details :
Status Code : 503
Status text : Service Unavailable
Detailed Message : Message from service : SAPup process exited with status -1 ,| Check the browser console for more information.
Any idea on how to fix this issue?
Thanks
