Virtual hostname and IP address range

Hello

In order to install SAP system based on virtual hostname for linux operating system, is there an recommendation or an restriction

to setup IP adresses from the same range ?

<ip1> physhost.domain. corp physhost

<ip2> virthost1.domain. corp virthostv

As far as I know there are no restrictions from SAP.

There may however be restrictions from your network team.

Hello Eric,

Do you mean that the physical hostname will be assicoatd to the IP 10.10.10.X (for example) and the virtual hostname would be mapped to 10.10.10.Y?

If the above is correct, there are no issues from the SAP end.

Your example is correct but if it's OK for SAP system , some of my collegues from the network team said It could have a impact a the OS level (Linux distribution), but I'm not an network expert.

Just to let you now, specific setting must be set at the OS level to support two NICs in the same subnet
