ESS\MSS implementation on SAP Netweaver 7.5

Good day

We are looking to implement ESS\MSS on NetWeaver 7.5. We installed SAP NetWeaver 7.5 AS Java, deployed ESS 633, MSS 630, PCUI_GP 633. but when we wanted to patch the system, Mopz complained about not being able to recognise this components. please see attached images. Even synchronization has warning in LMBD.

I tried to read up on NetWeaver 7.5 and XSS, but there not a lot of information available. Does anyone have some infor for me. more specifically what to deploy.

https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/ERPHCM/How+to+determine+the+correct+component+combination+in+E...

the link above says you can choose not to deploy anything and use Web Dynpro ABAP (WDA). Any information about the role to import from backend and use it in Portal

thanks in advance

regards

Steven

Dear Steven,

Hope you are doing good.

Just wanted to mention the below so that we have this in writing:

The old ESS application packages ESS 600 and ESS 603 won’t run on NW.7.3 and higher. (ESS 600 is the JAVA application package related to EA-HR 600  till EA-HR 602) (ESS 603 is the JAVA application package related to EA-HR 603  till now).

In parallel to the development of NW7.3, we from HR switched ESS to WD ABAP based.

WD ABAP based ESS is available with EA-HR 605 and higher. WD JAVA based can still be used but there is no new development.

Some people complained that they are not on EA-HR 605 but they upgraded the NW release from portal to NW7.3. So to make here a workaround we released ESS 633. ESS 633 is a copy from ESS 603 which can run on NW7.3 and higher.
And here is the problem… there is no NW7.3 compatible version of ESS 600.

So your options are:

• Do not upgrade the portal JAVA machine

• Upgrade the EA-HR at least to 605 and use WD ABAP; or rather would upgrade even more and use UI5 in this case

• Create two different JAVA machines in different releases and create an FPN (Federated Portal Network)

Hope this helps.

Hi Steven,

'ESS/MSS' are the software components comprised in product instance XSS (Self Services).

Kindly assigned the product instance XSS (Self Service) and then generate the stack.

Hi Steven,

Please use maintenance Planner

https://apps.support.sap.com/sap/support/mp/index.html.

1. Verify your system

2. If needed download the CISI and implement with SUM

3. Resynch again SLD

4. Do you Plan

Best Regards,

Achmad
