Dear community,

does anybody know about using open-vm-tools on SLES11 in a vmware guest?

We are trying to use enhanced monitoring (from SAP note 1606643) - but have no success.

saposcol claims

WARNING: VMware guest library not found.

WARNING: Couldn't read path to VMware guest lib

Is enhanced monitoring possible with open-vm-tools or are the generic vm-tools needed?

Hello Stefan,

the generic vm-tools and open-vm-tools have different library names, so saposcol may not be able to find and load the open-vm-tools library.

A quick workaround would be to set this link:

ln -s /usr/lib64/libguestlib.so.0 /usr/lib64/libvmGuestLib.so
