Hi Nilesh,
This is not necessary that always you use TOC for you object movement from Dev->Qual->Prod.
But when you have multiple object changes and multiple TPs, you include all TPs in single TOC.
In some case when we have object changes coming in from different system to our Dev sys then we can create TOC and include the TPs and move via Dev-> Qual-> Prod.
Majorly we use Transport request only to do any SAP object changes in Dev then we move to Quality and then to Production system. But sometime in Dev because of project layer and system landscape based on package object saved it will ask for different-2 TPs so we capture all changes in different-2 TPs and finally include in single TOC and move from Dev-> Qual-> Prod.

Hi Nilesh,
Transport request: We create when we do any changes to any SAP objects and we want to move changes from devlopment system to quality system and later to production system.
Transport of copies: When we have more than 2 Transport request to move from devlopment system
to quality system. We combine all Transport requests in one single TOC. Speciallly if we want all Transports to move together into production system (without knowing any order). Sometime we have changed more than 2 objects and moved to quality system for testing, later we got issue in one of the object and again we did some changes that time we can create TOC and include oldTransport request.
One TOC is enough to move all changes to Production.
Sometime based on landscape for example: if system has two landscape than two different Transport will get created based on package they saved. finally we can move 1 Transport of Copies by including all Transport Request.
Hope this will help.

Hi Nilesh,
Transport of Copies can be created only in Development..Because we will transport the request from Development landscape to Quality Landscape and production.
We cannot do any changes in quality...
Thanks & Regards

Hi Nilesh,
Using the Toc we can include multiple transport requests,Automatically all the objects in the transport requests get merges and deletes the duplicates entries.
When we go for TOC is..when there is any error while we transporting mutiple requests we dont know the sequence and some objects gets missed..In that we can include all the objects in the TOC So it will merge object list.
Hence there will be no error..Before including transport requests all the requests should be released and objects should not be locked in any other Transport request....
Hope these is useful...
Thanks & Regards

Hi Nilesh,
TOC requests also give you some functional benefits. When you work with TOC requests, you transport it till the quality system and when you face with errors during your tests, you don't have to create new requests that is on the path of production system. You fix the error on develepment system and overwrite the original request which is still not released. This enables you to track your requests better.

Koray

Hello Team,
But i still not get clear what is actual diff between transport of copies and transport request? ... why we r using transport of copies? As we have already facility in sap like transport request.
Kind Regards,
Nilesh
