Device Manager/controller for SAP AII

Hello Experts,

I am new to SAP Auto ID and would like to know more about SAP AII integration:

Is device manager/controller necessary for connecting RFID devices to SAP AII, or SAP AII supports plug and play devices?

How do we connect SAP AII to EWM and how does it work?

What kind of master data we need to maintain in SAP AII and how to do it?

Hello Jaggi,

Device master - it allows to maintain device records for communication. Device masters are assigned to location master. Device master allows maintenance of device controllers that AII communicates with. Each device controllers can be assigned to different device groups. (for example different RFID readers for specific business process or generic one for all business processes)

Master data in Auto-ID:

1) Device controller -  t-code /AIN/DEVICE

2) Device group - Group for device controllers (same t-code)

3) Set up RFC connection between AII & Device controller

4) Number range administration - t-code /AIN/NRADMIN. Based on your object type. Ex. GRAI

5) Product t-code COMMPR01 (optional)

6) Location ID, Location Type - /AIN/MD_LOCATION or /AIN/MDL (optional)

7) Business Partner /AIN/BP (optional)

😎 Company prefix - /AIN/ID_COMP_PREFIX  (mandatory)

9) ID mapping - /AIN/ID_MAPPING

You can define default device controller ID, DeviceGrp ID & Device ID to run testing tool using t-code /AIN/TEST_CLIENT
