Hana entreprise search and HANA search

Hello,

I know Hana entreprise search, replacing Netweaver entreprise serach. It is used for example in Fiori Launchpad and factsheets.

However it seems we don't need this anymore with search functionnalities from HANA.

Can anyone tell me the difference, when to use one or is one going to die ?

Hello Jim,

We have 2 flavours of Search i.e., in ABAP and HANA.

In ABAP we have the search models which needs to be indexed to be available at runtime.

In the older releases we used to use Webdynpro search UI which can be used for Search.

Now the search can also be performed in the Fiori Search UI which is recommeded for the all the Cloud and S4HANA releases.

So the Business Suite data can be searched easily using the Fiori UI.

Where as HANA Search is a solution to search for the data present in the HANA DB.

We can create Attribute views which can be consumed in the HANA Search UI and it is strictly for HANA DB tables.

In short, if you are standalone customer who is working on HANA, then you can use HANA Search. But if you are Suite or S4HANA customer then the search can be performed in Fiori Search.
