Upgrade Process: MaxDB v7.5 shows "-24875,ERR_NEEDADMI ... not a member of DB admin group"

Hi there,

when I try to run the command "c:\sapdb\programs\pgm\dbmcli.exe" -R "c:\sapdb\sdb\db" inst_reg -k \"c:\sapdb\sdb\db\" I receive the error message "-24875,ERR_NEEDADMI: The operating system user is not a member of the database administrators group."

Looking through SCN I found SAP note http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/889251 which addresses this issue perfectly. But the solution does not help in my case. I also checked for a user group on another and newer MaxDB server: There is a group called "SDB Operators" but checking the SAP website it says that this group is only used by MaxDB >= 7.7.

My Operating System is WIndows 2008 R2 64 Bit, I am logged in as local Administrator.

Any clues?

Thanks in advance 🙂

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Can you try run cmd as administrator and do run the same dbmcli command?

what groups the user is in?

Best regards,

Hi James,

I tried "Run as Administrator" (UAC is off anyway) before but it leading to the same error message.

Running gpresult -v shows me the following Groups that the Administrator is in:

        None

        Everyone

Local account and member of Administrators group

        BUILTIN\Administrators

        BUILTIN\Users

        REMOTE INTERACTIVE LOGON

        NT AUTHORITY\INTERACTIVE

        NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users

        This Organization

        Local account

        LOCAL

        NTLM Authentication

        High Mandatory Level
