Hi Nikita,

I am using Widows 10, however, I get a message on SAP Front-End installer that I need to install SAP GUI 7.20.  Would this suffice? Would this help the SAP program to operate correctly?

Astley

Hello Astley,

Could you describe the steps you are taking?

Have you already logon to the system?

Have you called SE80 in the OkCode field?

Kind regards,

Cris

Hi Cris,

I downloaded ABAP SAP Gui for Windows from the official SAP website and went through the installation steps. I am not able to logon.  I have a SAP Logon and SAP configuration interfaces.

Astley

Hi Astley,

Do you have the settings to inform in SAPGUI for Windows to logon to the system?

The minimum required to logon is:

- Application server: you can inform the FQDN or the IP address;

- Instance number: usually instance 00 - but you can double check in the instance profile;

- System ID: the 3 letter system identification.

If you faced a logon error, then you can check in the system about it (in OS level): just go to the "work" folder and look for error messages in dev_wXX.

Hi Cris,

Yes, I do. Who do I contact or how do I find the FQDN or the IP address?

Hi Astley,

If you have installed the system, then just go to the OS level and issue command:

ipconfig  (if it is a Windows box)

or

ifconfig (if it is a Linux/Unix box)

Then you should have the IP address - that should be informed in SAPGUI.

Hi Cris,

Thanks, where can I find the System ID and SAP Router string?

Hi Astley,

The SAP Router string is not necessary.

The System ID is the "name" of the system you want to connect to.

You can check in the system OS level for the path: /usr/sap/<SID>

So, <SID> is the System ID.

Hi Cris,

I entered my server name in the Application server name but got an error.  Can you please send me the steps where to find the correct server name on Widows server?

Thanks,

Hi Astley,

You can use the IP address. Just use:

          ipconfig | findstr IPv4

in the command prompt of your server box.

Hi Cris,

I used the IP address for ipconfig | findstr IPv4 in the command prompt, but I still get an error.

It seems that in the Application Server property it is taking SE80 as part of the name.

Hi Astley,

do you have the SAPGUI on the same Computer like the SAP SYSTEM?

If not, you have to open the Ports 3300 and 3200 for communication on the SAP System.

Please post a screenshot from the actual error.

Kind Regards

Hi,

where is the SE80 coming from?

Please fill out the SAP Logon like this

IP-Addr = you have looked for via ipconfig = localhost should work also.

On the same Computer this should work.

Have also a look in the "SAP Management Console"

that the System is startet correctly.

Kind Regards

Oliver

Hi Astley,

this is in the "Windows Firewall",

you have to create a role.

For this Google is the right guy.

I'm not sure.  It displays that message that the host name is unknown and displays SE80 in the error message.

Hi, which Programm you want to reinstall?

I think the connectionstring in the SAP GUI is wrong.

On which Windows System you have installed?

Yes, I think so too.  I am currently using Windows 10.  Do you know the correct SAP GUI I should be installing to do ABAP programming, creating tables etc?

Regards and thanks,

Astley

Hi,

every SAP GUI works.

I prefer the newest one.

If you think the ConnectionString ist wrong, a reinstall does NOT help,

because the saplogon.ini is in your userprofile AND will not be updated

via reinstall.

Are you able to send the Connection Details from the SAP GUI?

First you have to log on via GUI, then use the TA for development.
