Hi all,

Getting error "Could not open connection to the host, on port 5xx08" when trying to connect to Telnet Administration Command

Hello,

The easiest to use the SAP MMC tool because you can check if the port (5xx08) is open and active on the host. By right clicking on the AS Java proces table -> icm node, you can select the AS Java telnet option.

If this does not work the problem must be network related.

Hi Peter,

When I  right click on the AS Java process table I don't see icm node, see below, thank you.

Hi Klaas,

When you click on the AS Java Process Table, you should see processes running in Right Hand Side Pane.

In that pane - Right click on ICM process and choose Telnet.

This will start telnet.

Hi,

Please open the AS Java process table and inside you will find the icm process/node. Please right click on the "icm", then it will come up.

Thanks it worked, however when I collect the traces it doesn't fetch anything

Hi Klaas,

You can set the log location via telnet, but there are other ways as well. Please check this guide for details:

Monitoring and Displaying Log Files - Monitoring - SAP Library

The information will be logged in the defaultTrace, not in the Developer Trace of SAP MMC.

Hi,

Yes Telnet is running and Firewall is turned off, thank you.
