cluster key on two different system

Hello,

I have SAP BI 4.1 SP06 on Windows 2008 R2 server.

There two systems PROD and QAS.

PROD has one server. server11 with cluster key=clusterkey1

QAS has one servers, server21 with cluster key=clusterkey1

It is working fine so far with same cluster key.

Now I have a task to add one node (server12 to PROD and server22 to QAS) to each system to increase the capacity.

I am assuming that I will add a new server to the existing system and when it asks a cluster key I enter the above key.

Is it going to be any issue if the cluster key is same.

They are different server and system.

Please advice.

Regards,

SS

Surendra,

As you add the Server to each environment you will be enter the cluster key, in your case the cluster key is the same.  You will NOT have any issue because PROD servers will NEVER connect to QAS servers.  It's the same thins if the Administrator password was same both environment, you will NOT have issue.

Hi Surendra,

Since you have the two different environment, cluster key will be specific with the environment.

it will not have any impact even if you have the same cluster key for both the environment.

So you can add server with same cluster key.

Thanks

Your QAS and PROD clusters will each be connecting to a different database - that will determine which cluster they belong to, NOT the cluster key.

No issue coz cluster key stored in individual DB so it will have no impact even if there are same in 2 Env.
