I wanted to extract the text data of people comments in community to analyze using text analytics software. Is their an API that will let me do that?

which community are you referring to exactly?
For SAP Jam Collaboration we have APIs available to do that. You just need admin access to the tenant you want to do this with.

If this is about eh SAP Community Network I don't think you can get access to that data via API. But you might ask this in the appropriate space again.
