Using WB saved in 2.0.2.3622 by user using version 1.4.0.2528

We have two user groups with two different versions of Analysis for Office, Excel installed on their computers

  • Group #1 is using version 1.4.0.2528;
  • Group #2 is using version 2.0.2.3622

As soon as Analysis for Office Workbook is modified by user from Group #2 then users from Group #1 cannot use particular AO Workbook. Is there a way around this issue that does not require upgrading all users from Group #1 to the same version of AO as Group #2? Like 'save as' previous version?

Hi Egils,

in the AO_app.config is a parameter called  SaveAs1xByDefault.

<section name="SaveAs1xByDefault" type="Boolean" configurationLevel="UserRoaming" />

Maybe this help you here. But remember AO 1.4 support is end soon.

Thanks for the tip!

I found more documentation regarding this setting, we located config file and modified the setting. However AO would not offer to save the file in 1.4 format. Any suggestions why AO installation is ignoring config file?

I have only seen the setting when saving to the platform (e.g. NetWeaver) and not locally to your disk. However, once you have ticked the box, AO will save in the 1.4 format.

Hi,

do you change the AO_app.config because it is a user setting or you have to change the configuration level to machine for all users on this machine.

It works just as Dominik notes, if you save your file on a NetWeaver, not if you save your file locally.

We figured out what was wrong with the setting - it was typo. Everything is working now as expected.
