T&A problem night shifts

Former Member

Hello,

I have a time&attendance challenge:

We have a night shift in one plant which starts for instance on Tuesday 0.15 am and ends on Tuesday 8 am.

But there is the requirement that this working time has to be assigned to Monday and it has to be shown as Monday work on the time sheet.

Did anybody already have this request?

regards

Hi,

You have to start the shift before 12:00 PM for assigning it in previous day. Let say on Monday is current day and Tuesday is next day. On Monday you have to start this shift as on before 12:00 PM. You can start this shift from 11:55 PM for assigning it to Monday.

In case you are creating the shift time from 00:15, It mean system will assume that your shift is going to start on current day not previous day. So you have to make little change in start of shift for assigning it in previous day.

Thanks & Regards,

Hello Tanja,

that's the way it is handled currently in our Chinese plant in their NON SAP T&A system.

We want to install T&A SAP for them in the next months.

Off course we will discuss with them the usage of the requirement.

Maybe we will change it.

But at first I wanted to know if somebody already had some experience with such a requirement to assigne this working time to the previous day.

Ok, the best approach would be to convince them to change this practice.

Does the DWS have to be assigned to the previous day or do the employee's clock in and clock out for that shift have to be assigned to the previous day?

Hello Tania,

it should be both:

The DWS should be assigned to the day before (in our previous example to Monday instead of Tuesday) and also the clocking should be assigned to Monday, even if they are done (entering and leaving) on Tuesday.

The starting time on Tue is 00.15. Could you explain the business rationale for the DWS to be assigned to Monday? It might make sense had the DWS started on Monday. But here the entire time slot is in Tues, so why the requirement?

Please note if the shift for a DWS starts after midnight, it can not be assigned tp previous day.

Catarina:  Please note this forum is for SAP HCM in all countries. If the person posts the country for which the issue is it will help a person to post possible soltion.

Further, Time management (as well as PA, PD, etc) is across all countries.  Only payroll is specific to countries, as legal requirements are different.

Hello Jagan,

the question was in the DACH forum before, therefore my reply.

Anyway thank you for stressing that the ERP HCM forum is for all countries

Best regards, Catarina
