Carry-forward rule "Same Period" not working

Hello

I've a YTD Consolidaion Model which I'm performing some testing

I've created a business rule for Carry Forward with "Same Period" selected.

I run the package Copy Opening Balance but it did not copy to the same period....

Does anyone knows why?

I was hoping that it will copy from 2015.12 to 2016.12

Hi Edmund,

While you run the Data Manager package, please select the required time (same period) and run the package. Should work.

Thank you

"I was hoping that it will copy from 2015.12 to 2016.12" - sorry, but same period means exactly - same period

Hi,

As per BPC Handbook, source period should be same as that of destination.

If you want to run carry forward from 2015.12 to 2016.12, source period will not work

Hi Edmund,

Can you retry as follows for copying Dec 2015 closing values to Dec 2016 Opening Flow:

  • Remove the Same period tick from the business rule.
  • Save the rule
  • Go to the VERSION Dimension
  • For the Member Actuals , maintain OPENING_PERIOD as DEC and OPENING_YEAR as 2015.
  • Process the Dimension
  • Re-run the DMP

Alternatively, you can use Account Reclassification rule instead of Balance carry forward rule. In the rule, use SOURCE PERIOD as DEC and SOURCE YEAR as -1.
