Problems with matrix Printer - borders not properly defned / shifting to the right side

Hi everyone,

we are facing some problems with print out of smart forms on Matrix Printer:

Below some key facts:

- The form is properly displayed when choosing the print preview (both with LOCL and Matrixprinter)

- When printing with laser printer, we are not facing any issues either.

- With the PDF preview, we face some overlapping letters in case of Matrixprinter

- And when actually printing out the Forms on the matrix printer, the boarders are shifting to the right.

However, we cannot determine why we are facing this issue. If someone has some hints or useful articles/posts about how to properly define smartforms printed on matrix printer, please feel free to share. Might be very useful.

Thanks a lot!

Hello Tim,

does the matrix printer use a device type with STN2 driver?

The reason I am asking this is SAP Note #19807 - "SAPscript print problems with standard driver STN2": Device Types with STN2 drivers can not make fine-tunings (in terms of positioning, etc.) like other printer drivers do.

For this reason, a possible solution would be to use a SAPWIN-like Device Type (provided that the matrix printer is connected to a Windows printing environment with Access Method G or S), as SAPWIN can make fine-positioning.

Otherwise, the form needs to be redesigned.

Best regards,

Laszlo

Thanks a lot! This was a very useful answer.

We are actually using an STN2 driver. We will investigate further and update you when we found a solution.

Just one more question: This SAP Note applies for SAPscript problems - in our case we are using smartforms which are a different technology. Do you have any experiene if this Note also applies in our case?

Best regards.

Hello Tim,

sorry for the delayed answer - I was far away from SCN in the past days.

Yes, it is valid for the SmartForms too (it is just not mentioned in the Note).

Best regards,

Laszlo

Tim, as a side note - when posting such questions please always make sure to include as much information as possible. What kind of form is it? What printer model? What driver is used?

Not many people are as good at guessing as Laszlo.
