ST03: GUI Time more than dialog response time

Hello Team,

In my ERP system in transaction ST03, I see that the dialog response time of the system is 484.3 ms whereas the GUI time is much greater at 896.7 ms.

The response time always includes the GIU time in it, then how is this condition possible at all ?

The kernel is latest 742 (SP28) and the system is ERP on HANA. I have attached the screenshot.

This condition can be seen on many weeks (if not all weeks). Any idea ?

Cheers,

Pankaj Kedia

Hello Pankaj,

AFAIK GUI time is not part of the average response time.

The note 578118 - Long response times on the SAP GUI describes your case.

Hello Yuksel,

See this snippet from SAP Note 376148 -

"With Basis Release 6.10, Transaction ST03N replaces Transaction ST03. All dialog response times displayed in Transaction ST03N include the GUI time. The difference dialog response time - GUI time gives the corresponding dialog response times without the GUI part. The analysis view 'Response time distribution' can be used to display the distribution of the dialog steps with or without GUI time.

Also, see the attached screenshot from one of the text books.

As per these the GUI time is included in response time.

Hello Pankaj,

This note does not apply to your problem then since your GUI time is more than your response time.

In my experience I haven't counted GUI time in response time.

This picture is also taken from SAP documents. As you can see no GUI time in Average Response Time.

You may have read this note also. Check it for your problem.
