Hi All, Could anyone share on master data in EH&S. Regards, PS R
Hi PSR,
Adding to CB,
Master data in PS is like specification data which you maintained through Phrases.
we cannot differentiate by Master data & Configuration data they both are align with each other .
Thanks

Dear Satya
the link of "config" to master data in EHS is quite strong; but I believe for "Config" data the topic is as well clear.
So e.g. any "rating", "Validity area", "Substance authorization group" etc. etc. is "config data"
Some quite "specialities" exists in the area of "phrase set". The characteristic you can define as "config". The phrase set is a kind of "hybrid. I assume that 90% of EHS consultans will define a phrase set as "master data" (especially because they do not think of a phrase set as such but of all the phrases which are assigned to the phrase set). But because of EHS set up may be 10% of consultant would define phrase sets as "config" data and only the assignment of a phrase to a set as "master data"
But the amount of master data to be handled in EHS module is clealry bigger that in SAP SD module

Thanks for your immediate response sir,
I am looking something like for individual sub-modules of EH&S i.e Product safety, IHS, OH, WM,HSM& DGM do we have master data.
Are work area, substance , phrases comes under master data, if so plz. can I get more on this for individual sub-modules.
With Regards,
PS R
Hello
still not 100% why you need this list. It is quite simple.
a.) phrases and their set up belongs to "master data"
b.) any specification and any data linked to a specification is master data; for maintenance of specification data you may need phrases
c.) Derived from this master data (a.) + b.) we have the so called "hazardous substance master data" releated to HSM module and the "dangerous goods master data", releated to DG part. The two are as well "master data" objects
d.) On top: if you generate a WWI report you combine master data in a new master data object. IN this case a WWI report; the "report" you can link to "product safety" module (because of e.g. report distribution process)
The "report distrbution" is linked to "logistic documents";
The discussion on "OH" module is so limited that I do not list it here. The IH module will be replaced quite soon by new EHSM solution. So you may be should not look any more on "work areas" etc. But if you would like. These represent as welll master data objects.
WM: the "link" of EHS to WM is limited. Refer to the document i have provided. You will not find many links there. The link to "eWM" is "bigger" but discussion is coming up very rare here.
PLease check the SAP Online help. You will find many chapter dealing with the master data objects I have listed.

Here a more "broader" term than "master data" is used. In the EHS world "content" is the trick to be successfull in daily business of using EHS (classic)
Hi CB,
Regrets for delay ,as per your suggestion I am exploring the same on SAP online help. I liked
" In the EHS world "content" is the trick to be successful in daily business of using EHS (classic)"
and i have gone through blog on "about content providing", though it is not directly linked to my query, still it is useful content and thanks for the same.
