user defined texts/docs in VAT

Is there a way to know if we have entered any information in user defined texts when we view VAT . at VAT level since we see green check mark which tells us information has been entered in the characteristics but we will not know about user defined texts until we go and look for information . Is there a way to make changes for this ?

Regards,

Krishna

Dear Krishna

there is another option you could use (but no user will accept that). Per property/value assignment type you can define which "tabStrip" is the "default" to look at if you use CG02 display mode. You can defiend "userdefined text" as "default" first to be shown: But in most cases user will no acecept this as the "valuable" information is stored in composition... etc.

By using clever algorithm you could define a "user parameter" If user paramater is "X" then the "user defined "text might be shown first if not, the normal configuratio nmight would be valid. This is programming but the result could be helpful (from user perspective).

Thanks Chris ,

Also the information stored there is usually not searchable too . Was just trying to see if there was easy way to enable green  check mark over that tab when some information are maintained .no worry

Dear Krishna

you "expect" to much of the SAP standard"

a.) if you need the option to "search" for content in EHS in user defined text you must prepare an own "search exit"; this is the standard approach and used quite often as many customers are not 100% satisfied with what SAP delivers.

b.) if you check the e.g. "OEL" properties and we discuss e.g "content". you can have 50 - 100 data records in the property. So the "green mark" is only providing the "info": there is something: not more.

For "details" you must use either existing output variants  (or define own new output variants) or you need just to use standard features in CG02/CG02BD. This is how EHS is designed. (and if you just look in "windows explorer structure": even Micorsoft is not doing "better". You know that folder "x" is of size "Y"; but you still have no clue about the number of files in the folder etc.)

in context of " . at VAT level since we see green check mark which tells us information has been entered in the characteristics but we will not know about user defined texts until we go and look for information . Is there a way to make changes for this ?"

The green check mark is there even if you use "only" user defined text in the data record.

Even you could generale data record only with "source" data and you will get the "green" mark.

So this "icon" is only indicating: there is something; not more. So your understanding is here "wrong"; the "icon" is not related "only" to dfsata present in "characteristics" etc.

PS: any "mark" in property treee is showing only: there is something. this data can be maintained "locally", using reference, inheritance, using reference "overwritten", or "inheritance" overwritten locally. Mots of user are quite experienced as: if you use EHS generate always second session, In session one maintain something in session two check content (e.g. by using output variants). This use of EHS is really best practise

Dear Krishna

the topic of "green mark" is a "general topic". Only looking on property tree level you can not judge regarding data as maintained. But we have outputvariants. And here see will "all" (but not the document as such but that there is a document).

Just check:Displaying Properties - Basic Data and Tools (EHS-BD) - SAP Library

Outputvariant "VALUATION"

Hi Krishna,

Actually User defined text was designed with different purposes first it was with free text and adding phrase through characteristics .

Now you can upload document which is related to EHS & Exposure scenario etc.

and we can get green mark in user defined text also, which package you are using currently.

Please check the threads for more info
