The SAP_BW_HOUSEKEEPING task list (from within transaction STC01) includes a task for "Clear all OLAP Cache parameters". How often should OLAP Cache actually be completely cleared as part of a regular housekeeping regimen on a 7.4 BW on HANA system, and why?
Hi Laurie,
Clearing the OLAP Cache frees up memory for other processing - like an upgrade.
I see no strong reason to do so on a regular basis.
However, if you have a data load which "dumps" due to memory limits, it may be useful to clear the cache before begging the load process.
The cache should be invalided as new data is applied anyway, but doing so before the load could free up resources.
Please don't forget to record your final solution and to mark the question as answered.
Good luck,
John Hawk
