SAP Data archive to an external Storage through Http interface

Hello,

We are in need of setting up an external storage for SAP data archive. I invite all SAP experts to contribute what all are the steps and planning required to perform the archiving. I have some questions to be answered.

1. Which http interface should be used? Is 0045,0046? Where I get the documentation for these interfaces?

2. What is the file format to be configured in SAP? In SARA in SAP?

3. Is SAP Content server configuration  is enough for external storage?

4. What is the expected response time from an external storage?

5. Is Hadoop can be used as external storage?

6. Hive Database is required?

7. Where is the SAP documentation for such configuration

Expecting all your views and comments.

Regards

Siby Syriac

the note applies to all , not just SAP content server.

If you  have content repository ID that ID can be used to run the report.

Also you need to co-ordinate with the team who manages that content server (ex: opentext, filenet ) etc to identify issue

Hello Satya,

Thanks for response.

Now I am able to store archived data to the external storage. But I am not able to read from the store. Help me to resolve the issue.

Hello,

You are "expecting" quite a lot here.  Per the rules of engagement for SCN,  you should first show what steps you have done to search for this information yourself.  This is a necessary step before posting questions in this forum.

Please reply back when you can show what you have done to try and figure this out for yourself.

Usually when you get a 500 error,  the problem is with the external storage solution and you would need to contact them.

Hi Karin,

Thanks. You are right.

I have configured an external storage and able to store files to it from SAP. When I try to read the stored file, system is throwing "500" Error. But my analysis in the java side, where I hosted http service, "200" is the response. Finally, I am not able to read the file from the storage.

This is the issue facing now.

Your support is most welcome.

Hi Siby,

Which is the archiving object you are using? Can you access the file from directly the store?

Also check for the server logs.

Hi Bala,

Thanks. Connection between SAP and external storage is working and hence we were able to store the archived file from SAP server. So, NO connection issues.

Hi Siby,

Does your Data archiving involves ILM as well or it's a normal Data Archiving?

Hi Soni,

It is not involved with SAP's ILM. It is a normal SAP Data Archiving.

Hello Siby,

You can create a content repository linking to external store.

This content repository can be used in SARA customizing for the archiving object.

Hello Revathi,

Thanks for information. We did the same. But we are not able to read the stored file from storage. While read process, system throws an error "500 Internal Error". Hence SAP cannot read data.

We suspect that we missed some settings in the config for the external storage.
