multi maintenance package plan not scheduling correctly

Hi Everyone,

I have been asked by a business user to schedule a plan with 4 operations in the task list, which all have different maintenance packages and hiearchies assigned to come out in consecutive order and repeat itself.

I have tried configuring offsets in the maintenance strategy packages with no success.

any help in figuring this out would be greatly appreciated.

example

operation 1- maintenance package 1 month, hierarchy h1

operation 2- maintenance package 2 month, hierarchy h2

operation 3-maintenance package 3 month, hierarchy h3

operation 4-maintenance package 4 month, hierarchy h4

when scheduling the plan

SAP will not rotate the packages consecutively

example:
ip10 scheduling

1m

2m

3m

4m

1m

4m

1m

3m

2m

we would like the plan to generate like this

1m

2m

3m

4m

1m

2m

3m

4m

Hello Bob,

Kindly perform below steps to fulfill your requirement:

1. Create a new Maintenance Strategy as given below:

     Cycle Length     Unit          Hierarchy          Offset

               4              MON               1                   1

               4              MON               2                   2

               4              MON               3                   3

               4              MON               4

     IP11 - Maintenance Packages Snapshot:

     IP11 - Package Sequence Snapshot:

2. Create a Tasklist and add 4 Operations in it

3. Create a Maintenance Plan and schedule it

Thanks and Regards

Hi Pete,

As we have offset on cycles 1, 2, 3 .. these operations will not become due in the first, second and third month respectively.

From the above screenshot" the package sequence " doesn't show any cycle called in the first 3 months.

Please correct if I am wrong.

Thanks

You use a "start in cycle" in IP10.

thank you Abhi, your solution worked I really appreciate the help.

Maybe you or someone else can help me understand why the initial maintenance package sequence was not working properly?

Bob,

Its a little difficult to say why your first strategy/package settings didn't work. On the face of it, you shouldn't have had  two 4M calls only 2 months apart...

But we'd need to see the strategy/package screen-shot settings and also the IP10 view to make any conclusions.

Screen shots for 300-600-900 Scheduling

We had a slight more complex issue in that we had a Schedule requiring a maintenance to be performed at 300 H, 600H and 900 h. The 300 was performed also with the 600 H and the 900 H. This cycle started again after the 900 H.

This was the solution we arrived at using the information above.

Hello Bob,

I have created a Strategy based Maintenance Plan and scheduled it.

Required sequence of Maintenance Package is visible on 'Schedule Call Item' tab of Maintenance Plan as shown in below Snapshot:

Hello Bob,

I don't think it is possible. The system has a particular sequence as you can observe it in transaction code IP11 for your specific strategy and clicking on "Pack.Sequence". Though you change the Hierarchy this repetition will not occur.

I prefer rather going to multiple plans.

Thanks

Hi Sri,

thanks for the reply, that is what I was afraid of. All my testing has shown I would either have the break the operations up into multiple plans, or break the operations into separate task lists and then assign multiple items to the plan.

Bob,

I think this is possible...

A similar requirement has been covered a few times in the past whereby you have a 1M cycle that repeats 12 times i.e. one per month.

In the above case it was achieved (from memory) by using the offset. So in your case you have 4 packages each of 4M, and each offset by 1M (or something similar!!).

Give it a try.

You could also investigate cycle sets.
