Import two transports with same name

Hi

We have a transport request named as SIDK9ABCDEF from an application vendor and we want to import it in a system where this transport name is already present - SIDK9ABCDEF. Both the transports have different functionality. We dont want to override any of them. Please let us know how can we import both of them?

Hi ,

To achieve this, I can provide the actual way(considering that the programs/objects are not same or whatever it is),

  1. 1st TR you import as you are importing
  2. after importing completed, remove from buffer

Can be done in 2 ways,

      • through TP command in usr\sap\SID\DVEBMGS00\exe\tp.exe

Command:- tp delfrombuffer SIDK9ABCDEF SID pf=Domain-Controller Transport profile

      • through STMS,

Import Overview Button(truck button) -> next go to the imported SID ->Request(in menu path after selecting the respective TR) -> Delete.

Also do check & remove from usr\sap\trans\data & usr\sap\trans\cofiles the correspondance files.

    3. After that you paste the files in the correspondance cofiles & data-file folder

    4. After that same way in that STMS screen way, need to go & add

STMS -> Import Overview Button(truck button) -> next go to the imported SID ->Extras(in menu path) ->

Add -> Other Requests -> put the TR No & & import again option ticked & use the correspondance login details too to import finally the next TR.

Hope this process helps. If any doubts or queries, then would love to hear from your side.

Thanks,

Kaushik

Hi Manas,

You can try this, create a new transport and include the transport you mentioned in the new transport. Now you will have a different number.

Hi Poorva,

How come you have same transport number?

If both the transport have completely different objects, you can remove the previous one from the import queue and the new one and then import it.

Your previous content won't be impacted till the time the objects are entirely different.

Thanks,

Hi Manas,

The scenario is like this:- We have BWD as our sap sid and the application vendor also created the transport request from a system named BWD. And we already have a request named BWDK9ABCDEF in our system and coincidentally, the application vendor gave us the same named request to import. That is why we have same named request but content is different in both. We dont want to loose data from either of these two requests.

Can you suggest a way in which we can import both the request without loosing data?

Thanks,
Poorva

Yes, you can move with the steps I mentioned in my previous reply. Just remove the exiting one from the buffer, add the new transport and import it.

Thanks,
