Hi,

V r Using HP-Itanium box and Sybase IQ 16.0 SP11.

Having the entire set of binaries and DB space files as file level backup.

Is it possible to access the DB if we copy this entire set of files to a new HP Itanium box with same configuration and Kernel.

What additional things required to make the DB up and running in the new Box.

Hi,

If the all information is same as as-is system and you have entire system level copy when IQ is off-line(no I/O), You can restore IQ on other box.

ex)

- the absolute path/size of DB space(raw device, file system...)

- same kernel , version of HP system

- All files system including catalog db and log , binary..

- same os account(user/id)

Hi,

yes, such a kind of restore is possible.

Please consider the following:

  • the file-system layout has to be identical. E.g. the path to the database files.
  • your IQ has the same name as the original one
  • a new license is required (new license file if you're using local license files)
  • if your have defined a dedicated IP in the cfg - file, this must be changed

Best regards,

Juergen
