Web Server options for Data Services 4.2 SP7

Former Member

We are in the planning phase of Installing Data Services 4.2 SP7 on Unix and checked the PAM for supported version for "Web Server" as we want to use SAP NW AS Java Instance as a Web Server instead of Tomcat, but could not find the information that supports NW 7.5 as Web Server.

Question: Is NW 7.50 (as Java) Instance work with DS 4.2 SP7 as web server instead of using Tomcat as Web Server?

Anything not in the PAM is not supported. That doesn't mean it won't work. It just hasn't been tested by SAP. Use is at your own risk. And you won't get any support from SAP when things go wrong.

Hi Dirk,

I have two versions of PAM one which is of 09/16/2016 and other one is 08/16/2016.

The one PAM document which is of 08/16/2016 contains the information for Web Server and indicates that Web Server as NW 7.5 SP3+ is supported. Below is for your information.

Application Server (*2) Version Java Version

SAP NetWeaver Java Application Server

7.3, 7.31 SP4+ SAP JVM 6.1, SAP JVM 8 (*2)    

7.40 SP2+ SAP JVM 6.1, SAP JVM 8 (*2)    

7.50 SP3+ SAP JVM 6.1, SAP JVM 8 (*2) SP03+ SP03+ SP03+ SP03+

Whereas the latest version of PAM i.e. of 09/16/2016 does not contains this information and it is shows as under: It shows only SAP NW 7.4 SP2 is supported as Web Server.

So it is very unclear.

Please see an attached Image. The only difference I could see is one for BO and other for DS.

Thanks,

I would stick to the DS PAM. These are the configurations tested by the DS development team. As said before, it doesn't mean other configurations won't work. They just haven't been tested.

The BI development team may have tested more (or less, or different) configurations.
