Hello all,
I would like to know whether shipping comes under warehouse management or does it come under material management.
Thanks,
Maxx
Hi Maxx,
SAP have grouped together the functional areas of:
Warehouse Management, Shipping and Transportation under the general classification of 'Logistics Execution' - which covers all aspects of Warehouse Management, Inbound and Outbound delivery processes and Transportation.
Hope this helps.

Hello Maxx,
In simple words,
If you are managing your inventory at IM (Storage location) level then it comes under material management (part of SD).
If you are managing your inventory at WM (Warehouse) level then it comes under Warehouse management (part of SD but integrated with warehouse management)because here you need to pick the material and confirm the picking.
Hope this helps.

Maxx,
Shipping comes under LE (Logistics Execution) along with Warehouse Management and Transportation Management. SAP has clubbed all the execution parts of Material Management into WM and Sales and Distribution into Shipping. Transportation planning is part of APO, but the execution happens in LE-Transportation.

I am not sure if I understand your question completely. But, Shipping comes under sales and distribution.
In material management you perform a post goods issue towards a delivery note, which will reduce stock on hand.
Once you post goods issue, a transfer requirement is created in warehouse management. You can create a Transfer order and move the materials from bins to shipping lanes, from here the materials are shipped. At this point, warehouse management stock is updated.
Hope this answers your question.
