Hi,

what is the diference between system copy,system refresh and client copy.

Hi

<b>System Copy</b> - means you copy one server from one server to another server..Like in case if u want to move ur existing server to another server in that case you perform a sytem copy. Also it can be used for bring the quality and development server in sync or upto-date.

<b>System Refresh</b> - System refresh term is related to ur refreshing the development server or quality server (example) from the Production Server. it can be achieved using Client Copy as well as usign System Copy. System copy is the best when u want to refresh ur DEV or QAS server. Remote client copy or client export import has to be performed in case of system refresh using client copy which at times creates problems so better to go for System Copy.

<b>Client Copy</b> - Client copy is copying 1 client into another. The golden rule for client copy is that you have to log into the target client whenever u want to perform client copy. CLient copy can be of 3 diff types based on whether it is done on the same system or between different system. If between same system then is it Local Client Copy. If between two different systems then it is Remote client copy.

Now between 2 diff systems it can done in 2 ways: first is that you can use RFC connection between the 2 systems and perform Remote Client Copy and if there is some issue with RFC or netword problem is der then you can perform client Export/Import in which u can export the source client and then import it into the target client.

Please be specific why system refresh is better that Client copy?

Hi,

i hope system copy and system refresh is same.. at the time of refresh we have to copy all the data from production to any other server inorder to maintaion all systems at same level. EG: some times we have to perform system refresh from producation to quality bcoz we have to maintain quality system uptodate as same as production thats y we have to perfrom system copy this process is called system refresh.

Experts if iam wrong please correct me!
