Dynamic assembly production order

Dear all,

For a new Roll out in one of our plants, the current set up of static

MTO assembly (assembly type 2) does not completely fulfill the needs.

The main problem is that sales orders still can be updated/changed

irrespective whether the linked production order has been

created/released or even partly confirmed.

Therefore we have set up a copy but with assembly type 3 (=production

order, dynamic processing), linked now to production order type PP04.

We expected that the system would create directly a production order

upon sales order entry, however, it does not, it just creates a planned

order (idem as with assembly type 4=planned order dynamic processing).

Changes to sales orders are still possible as long as the planned order

remains as such. Once converted to a production order (even when NOT

released yet) no changes can be performed in the sales order with

automatic adaption of the linked production order.

Our aim is that a new entered sales order would create a unreleased

production order which still can be automatically updated via sales

order until somebody will release the production order (=trigger that

the order has been distributed to the shop floor). As from the time the

production order has been released, changes to sales orders should get

the warning message and updating of production orders should be done

manually. This warning message does now already pop up with production order

status "created".

We have been checking OSS and SAP help, but we did not find much info on

assembly type 3 (dynamic production order). Can somebody inform us on the important things to consider, what to set up in order to get production orders created automatically ?

Philippe,

What is strategy you are using. if you use 82 the direct production will come against the sales order. If 81 then planned orders which can be converted to production orders.

Whenever you do the changes in sales orders then the changes will be updated automatically in production order/planned order accordingly.

Now let is now your problem. Please write in brief.

Hi Tajuddin,

Thanks for your respons.

Here is what we want to do in detail:

When a sales order is created, a production order should be created automatically. This is, as you mentioned, what you get when defining the strategy = 82. With this strategy, when the quantity in the sales order is updated, the quantity is also updated in the production order (even if released or delivered or confirmed).

Problem we have with it : The data on the sales order can be changed whenever you want, whatever status the production order has. Our plant would like to authorize changes in the sales order as long as the production order is not released. Once the production order is released, no changes should be allowed to the production order anymore (manually or through updating of sales order).

People should get an error message when they try to change the sales order or at least they should get a warning message about the release and the production should not be updated.

Attention : We also work with combined orders (MILL) where we would like to have the same possibility.

Any idea?

Thanks,

Philippe
