hi layola,

Job is nothing but resposibilities to be done by an employee and position is holded by the employee. There is relation between job and position.job is done by a postion holder..Positions differ from jobs. A job is not concrete but rather the basis for the creation of various positions with similar tasks and characteristics.

Hi,

JOBS: are general classifications for sets of tasks or functions that an employee is required to perform. When creating an organization plan, jobs help you to create positions further specifications within the organization. A job describes a position.

Jobs are also used in the following components: 1.shift planning, 2.Personnel Cost Planning, 3.Career and Succession Planning.

POSITIONS: are specifications tied to organizational units and are held by individuals in an enterprise. Positions are specific to an organization. Each Position is typically occupied by one employee. A Position can how ever be filled by more than one employee. Positions are concrete and are occupied by holders (Employees or R/3 users). Positions can be 100% filled, partially filled or vacant.

Hi

Position: It represents the post that can be occupied by a person in staffing assignment of an organization Unit.

ex. This differs from Job, as Job is not concreate and provides the basis for the creation of various positions with similar Task and charecteristics.

Job: It serves as a Job description and that apply to several positions with similar task and charecteristics. Job describes the position.

Kindly reward if it helps you

hai job is generic in nature like what are his responsibilities

positions are derived from jobs

if job is manager

then positions will be derived from manager like manager-hr,

manager -mktg etc

thanks and regards

Another way to understand Job and Position concept in SAP

POSITION - you need to create a Position in order to hire person

Person / employee occupies a Position

Examples of Positions Sales Manager, Customer Support Manager

etc

JOB - Describes what a Position has to do, in general

While Job is not Mandatory / wssential, in the real world, Job Object

provides easy maintenance and hence every organization uses Job

object

Example of a Job for above positions - Manager

In day-to-day world, what we refer to a Job actually is a Position in SAP terminology

Hi,

Lets take this eg for Job and Position.

Job is not a concrete, it is General holding various task to perform.(Eg: Manager, GM).

Position is concrete and specific which are occupied by Persons. (Eg: Manager - Hr, GM - Hr).

Hope you understood the difference.

Reward points if helpful.

Hi,

Job is the nature of work done. Job describes position i.e., job defines what work that particular position has to do.

To define more precisely, Positions are concrete and can are held by persons in an enterprise (secretary in the marketing department, for example). Jobs, in contrast, are classifications of functions in an enterprise (secretary, for example), which are defined by the assignment of tasks and characteristics. Jobs serve as job descriptions, that apply to several positions with similar tasks or characteristics.

Hope this clarifies your doubt.
