What is Templates? what is the use of Templates?
If you create an char info object as a template of other char, then the new object will have all the technical attrbutes of the other Info object.
What is Reference Characteristic? and the uses of Reference Characteristic?
If you create a char info object as a ref of another info object, then the new oinject will share the master data and texts of the other info object that is used as a referance.
Difference between Template and Reference Characteristic?
Created as a template: The 2 info object will have same technical attributes and not the master data and texts.
Created wit ref: The 2 info obejct will share the master data and texts and also the technical attributes.

Hello Katyayini,
a template InfoObject, you copy its properties and use them for the new characteristic. You can edit the properties as required.
Reference InfoObjects
If an InfoObject has a reference InfoObject, it has its technical properties:
· For characteristics these are the data type and length as well as the master data (attributes, texts and hierarchies). The characteristic itself also has the operational semantics.
· For key figures these are the key figure type, data type and the definition of the currency and unit of measure. The referencing key figure can have another aggregation.
These properties can only be maintained with the reference InfoObject.
Several InfoObjects can use the same reference InfoObject. InfoObjects of this type automatically have the same technical properties and master data.
The operational semantics, that is the properties such as description, display, text selection, relevance to authorization, person responsible, constant, and attribute exclusively, are also maintained with characteristics that are based on one reference characteristic.

Hello Katyayini
These two options are to copy existing object to a new one but with diff context
1. Template: when you use template it provides you the option to choose what you want to copy seprae tables, it will be a seprate copy
2. Reference: when you use reference you dont create additional tables, the new object referes to the tables of existing object
Thanks
