Hi All,
can anyone provide some documents on the use and processes of transports. I am reasonably new to SAP and will be doing config and would appreciate any idiot guides etc to transports.
Thanks
Stuart
When you do the configuration and save syetm will generate a transport request number

I think I will give you the full cycle.
In Development client when we create a configuration change and save, system will create a transport request.
This request will carry all the changes you did in Dev client, System will also ask for the dev group with which you want to save the TR. This group is usually specific to a module like ZPP.
Usually when we do the changes during go live we would like to save the changes in one TR so that We can transport this one TR.
TR has to be transported sequentially --it is very important otherwise the transport will fail.
Now there are two type of transport - client to client local and client to client in different servers.
Local means the TR created released without any other steps to different client.
If it is to a different client (usually the case with PRD) is done by export and import transaction.
Please let us know which area you need more input.
