My last client successfully upgraded to ECC 6.0 and kept Virsa CC 4.0. We did find some minor issues for the FF IDs; when the user (in test) tried to log in in the FF screen, it said "invalid password maintained for FF ID xxx".
This was fixed via downloading the FF table, updating the passwords (there were some extra characters at the end) and then upload again in production; of course you could just update the passwords in Su01.
Just make sure you include thorough Virsa testing (running any tests for activities you perform in production) to catch any bugs and review the OSS note you listed before starting the upgrade.
