Serial number in Inspection lot

Hi All,

I am creating a service order in IW31 for a service product and upon releasing the order an inspection lot of origin 14 (Plant Maintenance ) is created.But the serial number from the equipment is not flowing on to the inspection lot , i.e., if you record the results for an operation in either QE51N or QE17 and if you check the tab page Unit to be inspected the field Insp.unit should be populated with the serial number of the equipment.But it is blank.Please give me a solution for this issue.

In the material master, in the QM view, for the inspection types.. did you make sure the tick box for serial numbers is checked on?

Yes . The serial number possible check box is checked in the inspection setup in QM view.I dont know whether this is standard SAP or not.Since inpection lot origin 14 - Plant maintenance is generated for an operation in the service order while releasing it and not for the material.So i am curious to know whether it is a standard functionality of SAP.
