Will WebTools work with Windows Server 2008, IIS 7.0 and SQL Server 2008? If not, when will compatibility be added?

Hi Derek

Web tools is only compatible with the products listed in the release notes. At this time, this is not expected to change within the year.

Those products are :

- SQL 2005 Express, Standard or Enterprise Edition 32-bit Edition

- ASP.Net 2.0

- IIS 5.0 and 6.0

Web tools 2007 is not compatible with :

- IIS 7.0

- ASP.Net 1.1

- ASP.Net 3.5

- x64 or Itanium 64-bit platform software; this includes 64-bit versions of Windows and SQL

- Windows Vista(any edition)

- Windows 98, Me or XP Home

- MS Access

- Sybase

- MaxDB

When you say not compatible, does that mean that it will definitely not work, or just that it isn't supported?

I would imagine that not supported means do not use. SQL 2008 and Windows 2008 haven't been released yet, just release candidates, and so web tools hasn't been tested on these yet.

We have tested it with .Net 3.5 and it truly, does not work at this time.

Thanks. I just registered for the launch event and will be receiving free copies of this software, so I was curious how that would affect our upgrade schedule.
