Hi Group,

We are planning to implement the batch management functionality.Basically we want to find that in case some bad product reaches the customer we want to identify what batch it came and further down.

My question is that if we activated batch management in material master will it suffice or we need to have some configurations on the SD side.If you could please throw some light on what we need to do to acheive this functionality on SD side or its the complete work of MM guys and do we need to activate batch determination also at the order level sorry i am not clear about the concepts as I am from an different ERP background and just moved to SAP

Regards,

Sofia

hi,

batch strategy we could adopt. attach batch to materials..

--> attach batch for materials

--> search strategy for batch

--> batch nos

--> batch mangement activate( once we activated the that material should always accompany batch.

the t-code for that is MSC1N..

we have fields in that t-code such as material batch plant storage location.

activate batch management in sales:general/plant tab of material master. we have a small check box in the general tab under availability check.

one think u should always keep in mind for one batch there cant be multiple batches but for a material can represent mutiple batches.

once u actuvated u need to upload materials for stock for plant ,storage location and batch..

in the sales order at item level dont double click but see the item level after the plant field u can see the batch for the material plant and batch the material recognizes.

when u do batch u can set internal numbers or ur own numbers..so whenevr u go for msc1n transaction code

see in the material master the batch management is activated other wise when u go system throws error...

then at the msc1n see class and class type u can create ur own class to identify the type the type will be 023 which is batch...
