Is it possible to refresh report data using Crystal Reports Viewer X1? If so, how?
Thanks,
Tracy
If you're referring to the Crystal Report Viewer XI - the stand-alone viewer - that came out last year (Linux version available this year), then no.
It's for viewing reports with saved data only.
Sincerely,
Ted Ueda

Replying to Brian, who raised this issue again:
The refresh button is only enabled if the user is connected to the SAP BI Platform. So, as an administrator, I might schedule a report to be run and delivered in .rptr (Crystal Reports Read Only) from the SAP BI Platform. This enables the content recipient to view the read only data, much like with a .pdf file, but with features common to Crystal Reports when viewed in Crystal Reports itself or in the BI Launchpad viewers. This includes features like drill down, filters, dynamic column sorting, etc...
If the recipient doesn't have a license to connect to the SAP BI Platform then the content is read only. If, however, the recipient has a license for the SAP BI Platforms and the appropriate permissions to run the report on demand then the recipient can login to the BI Platform through the viewer and refresh the report to get the latest data without having to go directly through the BI Launchpad and without having to open a copy of a production report in a development tool like Crystal Reprorts.
See list of 3rd-party Crystal Reports viewers at: http://kenhamady.com/bookmarks.html
All of them can refresh data.
