ComboBox style control in Crystal Reports

Does anyone know if a combobox style control is available in Crystal Reports? The production environment is Business Objects XI R2 on Windows 2003 Server and Crystal Reports Developer XI. Reports are delivered via Infoview.

Most of the reports have "account" as an input parameter/prompt. The values are from a LOV. Some client relationships have a few hundreds to 1000 accounts. So the usability of a HTML SELECT style dropdown degrades rapidly as the number of elements in the list grows.

A combobox control would allow the user to type in a partial account and scroll to that entry. E.g.: The search feature in Google Suggest http://www.google.com/webhp?complete=1&hl=en

Does WebElements have any custom controls that might have these requirements? Are there any 3rd party components that may meet these needs?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ramki

hello Ramki,

in the 2.1 suite there isn't a combo text box control such as in the google example.

however, for now, in your case you may wish to use a set of cascading controls which allow the end user to narrow down their search somewhat using keystrokes in conjunction with a cascade.

i'll look into the combo text box for the next iteration of the function suite though, as it's a great suggestion.

jamie

Hi Jamie,

Thanks for your response. Not sure what your release lifecycle looks like. But if the next iteration has a beta version, I would be happy to test it.

Ramki

Jamie - The combobox select control is pretty cool. Created some sample reports with it. Our next test is going to be with a bigger volume of data for the ElementValues.

Will post our feedback on how responsive the control is with say a thousand elements in the dropdown.
