Dear Jan

Sometime i found very difficuties and time taking process in putting questions in forum bcos i have to elaborate the whole pictorial process in words.

Why Cant we make our this forum more Interactive in way of asking questions by allowing us to attach print preview of what we face in the system.

If you kindly give a glance on this issue and try to implement it for us, forum members like us will be benefited and it will be beneficial for those who are all into in this forum.

Thanks & Regards

Hi.

Please ask such questions in the [Suggestion and Comments|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/forum.jspa?forumID=40&start=0] forum. I don't work on the forums backend so I can't do anything about that, but in that forum your input is very welcome.

And there is a feature to attach additional information to your posting. I'm not sure if it is open to everyone but I can attach files to my postings. There is button to do so below the editor window.

Edit: Just heard that this feature is not open for everyone as we would face big problems with people exchanging copyrighted material. But if you have some very good description how to solve an issue and need screenshots to explain: Use the blogs or the wiki.

Best regards,

Jan Stallkamp

Dear jan,

As to say you are correct but for Experts in SAP they will think its a Spoon feeding ,but for Un-Experts they will get sufficient answer .

I agree with you - and many experts have answered the questions here and elsewhere before, so using the search is much faster and better than expecting them to either type it out again or someone sends you yet another link to something you could have found yourself.

Personally, I find all these stupid links as answers one of the biggest problems because it kills the search...

So if all of us who answer questions as well as when we ask them try to discipline ourselves to good quality, then it will be double-best!

Cheers,

Julius

everything stays point hunting basic questions.strict action must be taken

Hi Julius Bussche

I think your use of smilies is also coming under language usage behaviour.

Most of the moderators and SDN members tend to use smilies - sometimes necessarily and sometimes unnecessarily.

Like avoiding plz, spk, msg, etc, you can avoid using these smilies as well.

Thanks

Hello Rajvat,

As we all are humans, showing expressions is very essential which is a god given gift to humans. I dont see anything wrong in using smilies to add that expression to the message we convey. Its universal which can be understood by all and helps to convey the tone and mood with which the message is being conveyed, unlike txtspk which might look unprofessional and most people dont understand those.

Hi Rajvat,

I will try to improve myself and limit to only 1 smiley per day.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused..

Hi Rajvat,

As others said, using smilieys is just to let others know the tone your are speaking.

And really smileys have an effect on the meaning of the sentence;

Are you Crazy ?

is completely different from ;

Are you Crazy ?

So i don't see a problem in others using smileys especially Julius

Hello Vikranth Reddy

Are you not in 21st century? Even small children know what spk for, or plz for.

You say its not understood by most of people. I am surprised.

U think u made a Great Joke?

It's not U, its you.

Shall I laugh?

So, who's laughing now?

pk

PK

About 'U', I agree my mistake. But I did not laugh. I asked if I laugh on his GREAT joke.

Don't you know/understand English well?

Rajvat

Unfortunately I am not able to answer until tomorrow because I already used my smiley for today.

Sorry, see you tomorrow.

Dont you know English well?

Well enough to understand that this is not a meaningful sentence:

I asked if I laugh on his GREAT joke.

Why you make that poor PK to do his 'ROTFL' again? He may have to rush to clean his clothes frequently.

No problem Julius. You can answer without the help of smilies (if you know). In fact, that is our aim of this talk too.

Hi.

One of the issues with "SMS-speak" is that they are not understood by all people. You should always consider that the SCN is a global community. Many members of this community don't speak english as their native language. And therefore they might not be used to english SMS-speak. And even people from differnt parts of the world with english as their native language might have a different view to language as language is closely related to their cultural background.

Regarding the emoticon discussion:

In written conversation it is much harder to transport emotions. While speaking face to face much of the meaning is transported by gesture. If you cross language and cultural differences it becomes even harder to transport emotions with your postings. Especially nuances are lost easily. So emoticons can help to indicate: "this is a ironic statement", "this is meant as a joke" and so on. Therefore there is a good reason to use such emoticons. On the other hand you should not use them too often. When posting something with subject "joke" there is no reason to type smileys all over the posting.

Update: Kindly take note that the Rules of Engagement were updated in July 2008! (incase you missed the changes)

Important changes are:

- The rules will be enforced in all forums.

- Use of proper language (avoid sms txt spk plz)

- Thank others by assigning points (if you ask a question).

- Do not ask for points (if you answer a question).

- There is a limit of 10 unresolved questions (see [this blog|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/10171]).

Specifically on the topic of points, I would like to add that there is a good cause behind this.

Please see [Quality Follow-up Blog|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/10171] and follow up on threads which you open.

Dear Moderator,

I have asked the question on Forum and Moderator LOCKED THE QUESTION, by giving a reason-Don't Ask Basic Question.

I have two question:

1. We can keep only 10 questions open in the Forum, and if moderator lock any question. We can not closed it. It means we have lost 1 open question. remaining is 9.

My request is that whenever moderator lock any question, First they should shift them in to unanswered or answered category.

2. OK, If any one ask a question, definitely he has some problem and some time, it looks a basic question for moderators (Because they are expert). If any user asking a question and it seems a basic question than they should redirect that question in proper forum.

I have already requested for the same. But instead of doing that Moderator locked the question.

I request you. please change the category (either answered or unanswered but closed) than lock it. So, I will have my options open to post maximum 10 question as open.

with thanks,

DSC
