EX2 Kernel

Hi,

Quick question about the EX2 Kernel (We are on 470/SR2-WIN2k3-MSSQL-640 Kernel - Not EX2).

Is the EX2 Kernel an updated version of the SAP kernel that all users should graduate to or are there special circumstances in which it should be used?

SAP have been continuing to update the non-EX2 kernel and I have been continuing to update our kernel(s) from it, however I'm wondering whether I should change to the EX2 kernel.

Thanks,

Tim

Hi,

A new kernel is being provided by SAP for releases 640 and 46D. this new kernel only for those SAP releases which are at least within the SAP Extended Maintenance.

The 640_EX2 is the successor version of the 640 kernel. The applications running this kernel are themselves not impacted with the newer kernel version. so you can go for 640_EX2 kernel.

check following sap notes

Note 1106096 - EX2 Kernels: Extended Kernel Maintenance

Note 1058988 - 640_EX2 Kernels
