The automotive industry is undergoing the most significant change in its 100 plus year history.  It is being impacted from all sides and indeed from within.  Technology enables tremendous possibilities, expectations are continuously being driven from outside the industry and new players, specifically technology companies, are making their presence felt.  In short, the automotive industry is transforming and evolving its customer interactions and services, its interactions with its data and its interactions with its assets.

It is crucially important to hear expertise and solutions from your peers as they capitalize on this transformation and explore ways to drive success with new technology and digital innovations.  Best Practices for Automotive is the “go-to” event that brings together over 400 innovative automotive professionals from across the world.  Join your peers from all sectors of the industry, including OEM/Manufacturers, Suppliers and Sales and Service Organizations to embrace fresh ideas, innovative solutions and thought provoking insights to re-imagine business and to improve business performance.

Now in its second year, Best Practices in Automotive, a collaboration between SAP, Eventful Conferences and ASUG, will “ignite” the business transformers of today and the innovators of tomorrow.

Highlights of the conference include keynote speakers such as Dave Andrea of The Center for Automotive Research (CAR) on restructuring the supplier network for success, Mark Weatherford from the Department of Homeland Security and Chris Valasek from UBER on cyber-security in the automotive industry and Joe Burton from Whil Concepts on employees and “disruption stress”.

Over the course of the event there will be jumpstart sessions on Monday afternoon with highlights from IDC Research on “connected trends” and breakout sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday, identified and requested by customers, focused on the topics of Finance, Manufacturing and Engineering, Supply Chain, Sales and Service, People and Change and IT.

Our conference theme is Accelerating Business in the Digital Age, indeed a compelling “must” for the automotive industry!

In 2013 there were 23 million connected vehicles scattered across the world’s roads.  Gartner predicts that that will rise to greater than 250 million in just four short years, by 2020.  And the amount of data coming from not only those moving assets but also from the exponentially expanding number of sensors in manufacturing, supply chains, logistics, smart cities and infrastructures, will create vast opportunities for insightful intelligence leading to new business opportunities, new ways of doing things and simpler, more efficient ways of working.  In short, business and the value it creates for companies and consumers will escape the chains of latency and truly be “live”.

The consequences are dramatic.  100 years of automotive legacy, proven business models built on trillions of dollars of investments will be rendered second class status…important still but no longer on the forefront of value creation.  Value creation will be accomplished by competitive and collaborative networks in the new digital economy.  New market entrants such as Tesla, Karma, and technology giants will combine with technical and social innovation to not only disrupt the status quo but to change the entire automotive landscape.

The industry is currently balancing the efficient operations of its existing processes and their ability to provide capital and profit today to fuel the new world of tomorrow.  Automakers, suppliers and sales and service organizations are beginning the transformational journey from pure products to becoming transportation and mobility service providers. Along the way,

Re-imagined business models will evolve creating new revenue and profit sources by offering innovative mobility solutions based on connectivity and insight.

Re-imagined business processes based on digitization will optimize business outcomes, improving efficiency, quality, safety within the industry and satisfaction for customers.

A re-imagined workforce with a radically different role and structure will develop, allowing workers to create innovative products and services, where the value is in the idea rather than the assembly.

Our vision is to help the automotive industry transform from its legacy and emerge as a mobility provider for the global population of 10 billion projected by 2050. This transformation will result in a new automotive DNA that is energy efficient, environmentally sustainable, connected and coordinated, shared, driverless and tailored to need.

We look forward to seeing and hearing your stories of accelerated business transformation on October 17-18, 2016 in Detroit, Michigan.  Register for the Best Practices in Automotive Conference here and join the leaders and disruptors in the transformation of the automotive industry.
