What is the difference between sales deal and promotion.
We know we can set the condition records for the conditions of the sales deal and which can be used in the pricing.
Where as how promotions are related to sales deal.
regards,
A S
Define Promotions
A promotion is a marketing plan for a certain product line (for example, during the market launch).
A promotion can be made up of several sales deals.
In Customizing, you have the following options for controlling promotions:
u2022 Define promotion type
u2022 Set up number ranges for promotions, if necessary
The same number range is used for promotions as in rebate processing. If you want to use separate number ranges, make the appropriate setting.
u2022 Enter the overview screen displayed for the user to create master data
Define Sales Deals
A sales deal defines a marketing deal for a certain product. Depending on the setting, it can be allocated to a higher-level promotion.
Special condition records can be allocated to a sales deal. If relevant, the records also contain the number of the promotion allocated to the sales deal.
The control of sales deals includes the following options in Customizing:
u2022 Define agreement types for sales deals
The agreement type indicates the type of the sales deal, for example, whether it refers to a product or product line. The standard system contains sales deal type 0020.
u2022 Define and allocate condition type groups
A condition type group defines a group of condition types and condition tables which can be used together in the sales deal. Using the condition type group, it is possible to deal with individual products differently in a sales deal and, for example, to grant discounts specific to a customer or material.
Promotions are from broader prospectivePromotions
A promotion typically represents a high-level marketing plan for particular products or product
lines - for example, a promotion for a range of products during a specific sales cycle. A promotion
can include a number of different sales deals. For example, if your promotion covers a range of
different product lines, you can create separate sales deals for each product line.
Sales Deals
Sales deals provide a finer focus for your promotional activities. In the example above, a
promotion includes separate sales deals for each product line. Within the sales deal for a product
line you might want to be able to promote the products in different ways. You might, for example,
want to offer customer-specific discounts in some cases and material-based discounts in others.
You can then create specific condition records that are linked to the sales deal, or assign existing
condition records. If the sales deal is linked to a promotion, the condition record also contains the
number of the promotion. This makes it possible later on, for example, to list and analyze all the
condition records that refer to a particular promotion.
Hope this explanation gives more clarity on your issue
I think it is better or sufficient enough to create sales deal itself

Hi
Promotion and Sales Deal, both comes under Agreement, under Master data.
Promotion is basically a marketing campaign which is consist of many Sales Deal for different validity period.
That means , we create a Sales Deal under some Promotion.
So first Promotion iscreated.
Then we create a Sales Deal, we create with reference to this Promotion.
Within this Sales Deal, there is a "Condition " button and by clicking this we get the condition record screen.
When we create a Sales order under this campaign, this sales deal comes into effect.
We can get the information regarding under which Promotion and Sales Deal it is created, in the Item details of the Billing document.
