Hi,

we'll get the Error "Object failed to run due to an error while processing on the Job Server" when we run desktop intelligence on InfoView with the scheduling function.

The error is not always executed. When we run the reports again, no

error message appers.

Can someone explain the mistake or explain the cause.

Thanks in advance

Environment:

Repository: Oracle10g, BO XIR2 SP4, Cluster

Best regards

Swen

Swen,

A few questions:

What OS are you on? Do you have a trace on the Job Server? If you do, do the logs contain anything interesting? Also, does your BO server have multiple NIC cards?

Best,

Hi Srinivas,

Here the answers:

=> Windows Server 2003 R2 Service Pack 2

Do you have a trace on the Job Server

=> No, we don't trace the Job Server

Okay. A couple things to try:

Could you start a trace on the relevant job server, attempt to replicate the error?

Also, have you looked at SAP Note 1206174 - Error: "Object failed to run due to an error while processing on the Job Server" when scheduling a Desktop Intelligence document ?

The following is a copy-paste from the note:

Symptom

Whenever someone schedules a Desktop Intelligence document using Infoview and the job is routed to the Desktop Intelligence Job Server, it fails with the following error message:

"Object failed to run due to an error while processing on the Job Server."

The server is setup with multiple Network Interfaces or DNS names.

Cause

Once the Job Server recieves the scheduled job and spawns a new child process, the child process is unable to complete the job. The child process constantly is waiting to load the job. Looking further into the log and specifically the startup script, the -port option was incorrectly used (-restart-port) and didn't allow the child process to bind to the correct port using the correct DNS name.

Resolution

When setting the -port option on a system with multiple interafces in the command line, make sure to leave a space between -restart and -port.

1.Open CCM

2. Stop Server

3. Right Click Server and go to Properties

4. insert -port option in to command line, example below

ex. "
win2k3\C$\ProgramFiles\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\win32_x86\JobServerFullClient.exe" -service -name win2k3.Desktop_IntelligenceJobServer -ns win2k3 -objectType CrystalEnterprise.FullClient -lib pp_procFC -jsTypeDescription "Desktop Intelligence Job Server" -maxDesktops 0 -restart -port win2k3.it.bo.example

5. Save setting and restart server

Hi Srinivas,

thanks for the detailed answer. So far, the error no longer occurred.

The following points which we have tried:

- Restart the BOXI Servers

- Chech the multipe NIC Card. Here were two network cards activated. That was not correct.

Only one card is activated, the other must be on stand-by set

If the error occurs again, we will implement your points.

Best regards
