- Did you upgrade your database?

- Did you install Oracle before you started the database installation?

- What OS is that?

Hi Sachin, Markus

This is ECC 5 and the DB is upgraded from 9.2.0.7 to 10.2.0.4, Also installled the client 10.2.0.4.

OS is Solaris 5.9

NLS_LANG is AMERICAN.AMERICA.WE8DEC.

Do you thiink I have to revert back the client to 9.2.0 for ECC5

Thanks

Hi,

Have you changed the SAP Kernel?

I assume NO.

Have you read the Oracle-SAP Upgrade guide to 10g in Unix?

I assume you have not done so completely, because in the guide it does NOT mentioned anywhere to change the oracle client.

The ORACLE Client that the SAP Kernel used depends on the SAP Kernel Version. It does NOT depends on the Oracle RDBMS version. Therefore, if you upgrade ONLY the RDBMS version you do not have to change the client version nor the environment variables related to the kernel.

and NLS_33 is also set?

If you use the current kernel, yes. If you install kernel 640_EX2 you use the Oracle 10g client.

Hi Markus, Fidel,

Thanks for your replies.

The issue is fixed, after adding the ORA_NLS33 parameter.

The SAP Kernel -640 was upgraded from 118 to 274 but not of 640_EX2..

Thanks everybody for your replies and help.

Hi,

Check NLS_LANG parameter is set correctly.

Also check Oracle client sofware is correctly installed.

Errors are originating from oracle client software.
