Oracle Database is not starting after Brrestore...

Hi,

We had restored backup using Brrestore. After restore, oracle instance was to be restarted. After shutdown, oracle database fails to comeup.

Oracle Error Messages as below are displayed

ORA-01122 - database file 1 failed vertification check

ORA-01110 - datafile 1: '/oracle/DEV/sapdata1/system_1/system.data1'

ORA-01203 - wrong incarnation of this file - wrong creation SCN

The system is SunOS 5.10, Oracle 10.2.0.4

After Restore, the redolog files of source system needs to be applied(Point in time) to target system.

To do so,the environment needs to point Source SID.

I accept your answer, but there is no need to replace the SID in environment variable...

Just rename archivelogs in your archive directory(replace with target SID) and start applying

Ravindran,

Looks like you did not open database with 'RESETLOGS'. Check following link for detailed information.

Hope this helps.

Have you changed the Oracle_SID to Source system SID in database environment

Can you tell me why you are suggesting above step?

After restoring database, we have to create controlfile with new sid and we can recover the database using newly created controlfile.....but what is the logic behind changing environment variable...can you explain

Hello,

After Restore, the redolog files of source system needs to be applied(Point in time) to target system.

To do so,the environment needs to point Source SID.

In this case no new SID is created.

Thanks & Regards.

Hello,

Have you changed the Oracle_SID to Source system SID in database environment after that DB recovery needs to be done.

It seems there is some issue with the backup files which u restored .

Provide the Following Information .

1. What are the files being restored ? and from online or offline backup ?

2. What are the steps you are doing for DB recovery ; is this the first time DB start after restore.

3. Paste the Commands used by you in SQL to bring DB up.

Thanks

HI...

At this time you can go for RMAN backup from old SCN number to latest SCN number

take the same from primary server and restore it in the target server

Hi,

It seems that you have a mismatch between your controlfile and datafiles ... did you restore a copy of your controlfile as well? Also, did you perform a recovery of your database after the restore?

Tnx
